Beef and Cabbage Soup

My mom used to make this soup when we were children.This was her favorite soup and I am thankful that she taught me how to make this when I was old enough to learn to cook.She is gone now, but every time I make this, it brings a smile to my face as I remember being in the kitchen cooking with her.

Ingredients

1 1/2 lb
ground beef
1 large
cabbage head
2 can(s)
diced tomatoes
2 can(s)
dark red kidney beans
1 can(s)
tomato sauce
1 medium
onion,chopped
1 Tbsp
garlic powder
1 tsp
salt,or to your taste
1/2 tsp
black pepper,or to your taste

Directions Step-By-Step

Brown ground beef in large stock pot.Meanwhile chop your cabbage and onions.

Add cabbage and onions a little at the time,giving them a few minutes to cook down before adding more.Don't worry,all or most of the cabbage will be used.

When the cabbage has cooked down, add your tomatoes, kidney beans,tomato sauce,garlic powder and all seasonings.Simmer for about 1 hour until cabbage is tender. Serve with shredded cheese over top and crusty bread. Hope you enjoy.
