2 3/4 qtwater

3 lbdried yellow split peas

1/2 lbsalt pork or 1 smoked ham hock

2-3bay leaves

1 tspdried savoury

salt and pepper to taste

1Soak peas overnight and drain.

2Put all ingredients into the pot. Bring to a boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand 1 hour or more until peas are tender.

3Add salt and pepper. Reheat before serving. Usually tastes better second time around.
