I loved these as a kid & now my kids & grandkids like them too. If your a sunflower seed lover, you should like these as well. For sweet side replace salt with sugar in water & sprinkle a cinnamon & sugar mixture on last 10 minutes of baking. But be careful because sugar burns easily.
Rinse seeds well, removing all the stringy mushy stuff off. Place salt in warm water & stir to desolve. Place seeds in water & cover with foil or lid. Soak over night. Next day drain & lay on single layer on cookie sheet. Sprinkle with additional salt & bake in a 300° oven for 30 to 45 minute, or until dried out. Take out & stir up, return to oven for 10 minutes at a time if not completely roasted dry.
