SPICY RAISIN CUPCAKES

My dear mom made these so offen and we never were tired of them, I believe the recipe was from the early 1950"s
They don't need any frosting, if you like to sprinkle a little confectionery sugar on them,but they are rich enough to enjoy.
One bowl is needed to mix them in

Ingredients

1 c
rasins
1 c
water
2 c
flour
11/2 c
white sugar
3 tsp
baking powder
1 tsp
salt
2 tsp
cloves
1 tsp
nutmeg
2 tsp
cinnamon
1/2 c
margarine or butter
1
egg

Step-By-Step

1Simmer raisins in the one cup of the water for 15 minutes, and drain and save liquid(add water if needed to make one cup of liquid after simmerineg}
2measure all ingredients into one bowl {except raisins} mix one minute,,, mix again 2 more minutes,ADD THE EGG
3Dredge raisins in 2 additional tablespoons of flour
Carefully fold the raisins into batter with a spoon
4Fill lined muffin pan cups 1/2 full,
Bake @ 375degrees, for 15-20 minutes.
add nuts about 1/2 cup any kind if desired.
These are wonderul for lunches.
