Blue Ribbon Recipe

Notes from the Test Kitchen:
This makes a great after school snack! Make sure to keep it out of sight, or you may have little hands sneaking a handful or two. It's sweet, salty and has a great crunch.

Ingredients

3/4 c
brown sugar, firmly packed
6 Tbsp
margarine or butter (do not use spread or tub products)
3 Tbsp
corn syrup, light
1/4 tsp
baking soda
4 c
corn chex
4 c
rice chex
1/4 c
semi-sweet chocolate chips

Step-By-Step

1Cover cookie sheet with waxed paper. Microwave brown sugar, margarine and corn syrup until margarine is melted.
2Stir in baking soda until dissolved. Stir in cereals, microwave on high for 3 minutes, stirring every minute. Spread on cookie sheet.
3Cool 10 minutes, then break into bite size pieces. Microwave chocolate chips in small microwavable bowl on high until chocolate can be stirred smooth.
4Drizzle chocolate over snack, refrigerate until chocolate is set. Store in airtight container.
