sugared pecans

I have seen several recipes for these on JAP. However this is one that I have had for years and is slightly different. It uses salt to make it both sweet and savory. I make these during the holidays and put them in small containers to keep on hand for unexpected guests. Everyone visiting gets a little gift to munch on as they leave. I really think some people "visit" just to get their pecans... Enjoy.

Ingredients For sugared pecans

  • 1 lb
    pecan halves (i have used almonds also)
  • 1
    egg white
  • 1 tsp
    cold water
  • 1 c
    cane sugar
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    salt

How To Make sugared pecans

    Set the oven to 250 F.
  • 2
    Beat the egg white and water till fluffy.
  • 3
    Add pecan halves and gently coat them well.
  • 4
    Mix sugar, cinnamon and salt together.
  • 5
    Fold the sugar mixture into the egg and pecans.

    Spread onto a cookie sheet and bake for 1 hour. Let cool completely and place in airtight containers.
