I love chestnuts and this is the season for them. I finally learned the proper method and want to share it with you.
1Set your oven for 425'F.
Make a slice along the round mounded edge of each chestnut. Make sure you cut right through the shell.
2Put them in a saucepan and cover with water.
3Bring to a simmer.
4Remove from the pot and put into a heat proof dish.
5Bake for 15 minutes.
6Put in a towel and leave for 15 minutes so the steam can help soften the chestnuts.
