Wow, I am excited to find this recipe of my Grammie's because I love granola and what better than homemade granola. I will try and make this for Easter and give it out as gifts in jars. I know my family will love it. Of course, they can munch on it anytime they want and it is a great healthy snack. I remember my Grandma putting this granola into her homemade yogurt she would make. It really helped my sister & I to be able to eat it easier. It wasn't like the store bought kind with fruit and all. It was sort of sour and tart and other times we could put a spoonful of homemade jam.

Spread over a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and bake at 250 degrees for 35-40 minutes.

Stir in raisins, figs and nuts. (I also use other dried fruits like pineapple, papaya, apricots and cherries.)

Dry in oven about 1 hour, stir occasionally. Store covered. Yields: 8 cups (Or whatever fruits you decide. This is a picture of my "Easter Granola" I had dried papaya, pineapple, cherries, figs and salted peanuts)

To Vary: Use black walnut or other flavors of extracts. Try different nuts and/or sunflower seeds. Add 1/2 cup carob powder to oats or add some wheat germ & bran, increasing the honey too.

My Easter Jars: I added papaya, pineapple and cherries to the mix I cut out squares of remnant fabrics to use for the bags on top. I bought 1 bag of green plastic grass Assorted candies and placed in those 1/2 baggies you can buy at the store. Colored thin stripped ribbon and fancy Easter color ribbon thicker. Stickers for jars to write Happy Easter on.

The fabric is up under the lid and then the lid is screwed on to hold fabric in place. Here is how I placed the candies on the jar and then tied the fabric up around it.
