Ingredients For california granola bars

  • 1 1/2 c
    walnuts
  • 1/2 c
    dried apples
  • 1/2 c
    dried apricots
  • 6 c
    quick-cooking oatmeal
  • 3/4 c
    unsalted butter
  • 1/2 c
    honey
  • 1/2 c
    firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt

How To Make california granola bars

    Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 10x15x1 inch jelly roll pan.

    Place nuts, apples, & apricots, in a food processor, & chop finely. Transfer to a large bowl, and add oatmeal.

    In a saucepan, combine butter, honey, sugar, and cinnamon, and bring to a boil; boil 1 minute. Stir, into oatmeal mixture, with vanilla and salt. Press mixture firmly and evenly into prepared pan.

    Bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool in pan, and cut into 35 (1 1/2 x 3 inch) bars. Store in airtight container in cool, dry place. Makes 35 bars.
