For ease of making, I have since discovered the frozen pearl onions...hey use them!
This is just a delicious sauce on these onions. I added quite a few things to the original recipe to give it just the right taste.

Ingredients

1 lb
bag frozen pearl onions
4 Tbsp
butter
1/4 c
all purpose flour
1 1/2 c
whole milk or cream
3 Tbsp
parmesean cheese, divided
6 oz
cream cheese
1/2 tsp
dry mustard
pinch
nutmeg
1 tsp
hot sauce
1 tsp
worchestershire sauce
1/2 c
sliced almonds

Step-By-Step

1Cover pearl onions and cook in microwave to package directions.
2While onions cook, make sauce.
3Melt butter in large sauce pan, add flour and cook just a minute.
4Add milk, stirring constantly just a little at a time until mixture is smooth, add cream cheese and stir until cream cheese melts.
5Add 2 tablespoons parmesean cheese, mustard, nutmeg, hot sauce, and worcestershire sauce.
6Drain onions, and add to cream mixture.
7Grease a cassserole, pour in onion mixture, sprinkle on the reserved 1 tablespoon parmesean cheese and the almonds.
8Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for an hour or until browned and bubbly
