Ingredients For the very best sauteed mushrooms for steaks

  • 1 c
    butter
  • 2
    shallots, diced
  • 20 oz
    cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 12 oz
    shiitake mushrooms, sliced
  • salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp
    thyme, dried
  • 4 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1/2 c
    white wine

How To Make the very best sauteed mushrooms for steaks

  • 1
    Melt 1/2 C butter in 12" skillet over medium heat. Add shallots & cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Add mushrooms & 3/4 tsp salt & increase heat to medium high. Cover & cook; stirring occasionally, until mushrooms have released their mositure, 8 - 10 minutes.

    Uncover & add remaining butter & cook; stirring occasionally, until mushrooms are deep golden brown & tender, another 8 - 10 minutes. Stir in thyme & garlic & cook until fragrant, 30 seconds. Add wine & cook until liquid is nearly evaporated, 1 minute. Season with salt & pepper & serve over steaks.
