Taste of Home recipe sent in by Denise Elder from Hanover, Ontario. This coleslaw recipe is my favorite, it makes a lot of slaw so if you are cooking for a crowd it is perfect.

Ingredients For sweet and creamy coleslaw
- VEGETABLES

6-7 lbcabbage, shredded

2medium carrots, shredded

2celery ribs, chopped

7green onions, thinly sliced
- DRESSING
-
1/2 cplus 2 tablespoons sugar

2 1/4 tspall purpose flour
-
2 1/4 tspcornstarch
-
1 tspground mustard
-
1/2 tspsalt
-
1/2 tspground black pepper
-
1/2 cplus 2 tablespoons cider vinegar

1/2 cwater
-
1egg, lightly beaten
-
1/2 cmilk
-
1/4 cpacked brown sugar

1/2 chalf-and-half cream
-
2 cmayonnaise
How To Make sweet and creamy coleslaw

1In a large saucepan, combine the sugar, flour, cornstarch, mustard, salt and pepper. Gradually stir in vinegar and water. Add egg and milk. Cook and stir until mixture comes to a boil. Cook two minutes longer or until slightly thickened. Cool to room temperature, stirring several times.

2In a large bowl, combine the brown sugar and cream. Stir in mayonnaise. Add cooked dressing; mix well. In several large bowls, combine the cabbage, carrots, celery and green onions. Add dressing and toss to coat. Serve immediately.
