Mushroom Sweet and Sour

It might look like you need a lot of ingredients to prepare this dish. But trust me, they are the basics that we usually have in our kitchens.

Ingredients

2 clove
garlic (finely chopped)
1 large
onion (finely chopped)
1 large
tomato (diced and mashed)
1 can(s)
button mushroom
2 large
red chillies (sliced)
1 pinch
tumeric powder
1 tsp
chilli powder
1/2 tsp
black pepper powder
2 Tbsp
soy sauce
1 - 2 Tbsp
chilli sauce
few curry leaves
1 pinch
salt
1/2 tsp
sugar
1/4 tsp
lime juice
2 - 3 Tbsp
oil

INGREDIENTS FOR DRESSING / SAUCE (OPTIONAL)

2 - 3 Tbsp
soy sauce
1 clove
garlic (chopped)
1 pinch
salt
1 pinch
sugar
1/4 tsp
black pepper powder
1/8 tsp
lime juice

Step-By-Step

1In a pan, heat oil and chopped garlic over a medium fire.

P.S. I heat oil and garlic together for the release of the wonderful fragrant of garlic.

2Saute onion, red chillies and curry leaves for 2 minutes or less.

3Add mushrooms and saute. Now add turmeric powder and chilli powder and mix well. Add mashed tomato and mix well.

P.S. I love to use mashed tomato for the rich texture and flavour it gives.

4Add soy sauce, chilli sauce and lime juice and mix well. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside.

5For the sauce (optional):

In a small bowl, whisk soy sauce, salt, pepper, sugar and lime juice. Add chopped garlic (optional) to the sauce.

6Pour the sauce over the cooked mushroom and mix well. Mushroom sweet and sour is ready to be served.
