Ingredients For macaroni mousse

  • 2 c
    macaroni, elbow, cooked
  • 2 c
    milk
  • 1/2 stick
    butter
  • 1/2 sm
    onion, diced
  • 1 jar
    mushrooms, sliced, drained
  • 2 Tbsp
    parsley flakes
  • 2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    pepper
  • 1/2 lb
    velveeta, cut into chunks
  • 2 c
    panko bread crumbs, toasted
  • 3 x lg
    egg whites, beaten stiff
  • 3 x lg
    egg yolks, beaten

How To Make macaroni mousse

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • 2
    In a medium saucepan, heat milk, onion, mushrooms, parsley, salt & pepper. Take off heat; add cheese; stir to melt. Add panko; stir to combine.

    In a large bowl, add macaroni & pour mixture over. Add egg yolk; mix well to blend. Cool slightly. Fold in egg whites.

    Pour mixtue into a greased 13" x 9" baking dish. Bake 1 hour. Let cool 6 minutes before serving. Run a knife along sides to loosen.
