I think this slaw tastes just like the slaw from LJS' although my mother in law says it's even better!
I found this recipe by doing an online search. It's originally from one of the resturaunt secrets revealed cookbooks.

Ingredients

8 c
very finely chopped cabbage (1 head)
1/4 c
shredded carrot
2 Tbsp
minced onion
1/3 c
granulated sugar
1/2 tsp
salt
1/8 tsp
pepper
1/4 c
milk
1/2 c
mayonnaise
1/4 c
buttermilk
1 1/2 Tbsp
white vinegar
2 1/2 tsp
lemon juice

Directions Step-By-Step

1
Be sure that the cabbage, carrots, and onion are chopped up into very fine pieces (about the size of rice kernels). (NOT REQUIRED, I DIDN'T)
2
Combine the sugar, salt pepper, milk, mayonnaise, buttermilk, vinegar, and lemon juice, and beat until smooth.
3
Add the cabbage, carrots, and onions. Mix well.
4
The critical part of this cole slaw recipe is the flavor-enhancement period prior to eating. Be absolutely certain the cole slaw sits in the refrigerator for at least a couple of hours prior to serving.

I used to work at Long John Silvers, and still love their coleslaw. All I had to do was push the vegetables through the grinder and add the sauce and mix. I'm hoping that this is good!

I made the cole slaw tonight for the first time, It was a hit next time I will leave out the onions and I will add just a little more sugar. Didn't like the flavor of the onions. I put it in the frig. for about 4 hours. I did use the baged cabage, it was kind of shrink wrapped. Once I opened the bag and fluffed it with a fork it doubbled. I made one batch for the whole bag. I think it was enough for that amount of cabbage. I will make it again but no onions. Another recipe I just found, like this one said to refg. for at least 2 hours.

Oh and btw to those making the first time, if you like your slaw a little more on the juicy side I always triple the sauce ingredients.

Oh thank you so much for sharing this recipe. I have been using it for years and I made it the other day and left the recipe on my table, came home to find out that my dog decided to eat it. Was gonna look for it again on google and thought I would check here first since this is my favorite website. Thanks again for posting and if anybody is wondering if they should try this or not definitely do. Best coleslaw recipe out there. I have never made this without someone asking me for the recipe.
