I used to work for the air force base and when I was on lunch break and went to the cafeteria and I bought me some fried cabbage with ham. I have been searching for that recipe for a long time. I love it. They are so delicious and tasty.

Ingredients For fried cabbage with ham

    head cabbage, chopped
  • 1
    small yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 -3 Tbsp
    canola oil
  • 6
    slices bacon, cooked, crumbed
  • 1 c
    ham, diced
  • 1/2 to 1 c
    water
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    black pepper

How To Make fried cabbage with ham

    In a large skillet with a fitted lid, start by frying the bacon until done, then set it aside.

    Next, over medium heat, add the oil to the bacon fat, then add onion and about half of the cabbage. Continue stirring and adding cabbage until you get it all in the pan. Once it's in the pan add the water, cover and cook, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage has softened (about 20 min).

    Remove the lid and add the bacon, ham, salt and pepper, and cook until all of the water has evaporated. Add more seasoning if needed.
