Jeanne's Notes:

My mom used to make her baked beans this way when we were kids. Even though this recipe calls for canned beans, by adding the other ingredients and cooking slowly for a little while, it tastes like you've been cooking all day. The picture is from the internet for illustration only.

Directions

1
In a large soup pot of dutch oven, add the bacon and cook over medium heat just until the fat begins to render, about 4 minutes.
2
Add baked beans, ketchup, brown sugar, syrup and tabasco sauce to taste; cover and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
3
Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hr. Stir occasionally to keep beans from sticking or scortching.

Hello Jeanne, You called for hot sauce but you did not say how much, and I never saw where it said honey on your list of ingredients. Please explain.

Thanks Belinda

Belinda, I am so sorry about my error. I usually use a few dashes of Tabasco sauce but it is entirely optional. Thanks for catching that...it was a little confusing, lol.
