Jeanne's StoryMy mom used to make her baked beans this way when we were kids. Even though this recipe calls for canned beans, by adding the other ingredients and cooking slowly for a little while, it tastes like you've been cooking all day. The picture is from the internet for illustration only.
thick sliced bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces
(32 oz) baked beans or pork 'n beans
brown sugar, lightly packed
tabasco sauce to taste (optional)
1In a large soup pot of dutch oven, add the bacon and cook over medium heat just until the fat begins to render, about 4 minutes.
2Add baked beans, ketchup, brown sugar, syrup and tabasco sauce to taste; cover and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
3Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hr. Stir occasionally to keep beans from sticking or scortching.

Hello Jeanne, You called for hot sauce but you did not say how much,and I never saw where it said honey on your list of ingredients. Please explain.

Belinda, I am so sorry about my error. I usually use a few dashes of Tabasco sauce but it is entirely optional. Thanks for catching that...it was a little confusing, lol.
