Gave it a try and sorry to say I will not be making it again. The cheese takes away from the flavor of the onions . It just did not seem to blend well with other foods as well as I thought it was. There were a couple who enjoyed it but the majority of my family said "stick with the other recipe."
If your a cheeseaholic you'll probably like it.

This sounds really good, but if I make it I will saute the mushrooms in butter until golden. Use frozen green beans, blanch them and lightly saute in the mushroom pan. Remove vegetables to casserole dish, add flour to butter in pan to make a roux, and add milk to make "cream of" instead of canned soup. It does sounds very tempting.

I make this one too only I use all fresh ingredients. I blanche the green beans in salted boiling water for 1 minute then they go immediatley into an ice bath to stop the cooking. I slice 2 large Vidalia onions into rings then carmelize them in some garlic infused butter, then I'll toss in 8 ounces of sliced button mushrooms and saute them briefly, then it's everybody into the pool and instead of the soup I'll make a bechemel then after I've stirred the ingredients to combine. I top with Panko that I've tossed with a little melted butter! And into the oven, uncovered.
