I have been making this recipe for many years. I started out, originally, with canned peas. Now, I only like garden peas (blanched) or frozen peas. We don't have a garden any more, so I just use the frozen ones. Chill time not included in prep time.

Ingredients For sharon's pea salad

  • chill time not included in prep time.
  • 1 pkg
    (10 oz.) frozen peas, thawed or fresh garden peas, blanched
  • 1/2 sm
    onion, finely chopped
  • 1 lg
    boiled egg, chopped (cooked ahead of time)
  • sweet pickles, chopped fine or sweet pickle relish, to taste
  • 2 Tbsp
    celery, chopped
  • 1/2 c
    or to taste, mayonnaise, light or reduced fat
  • salt, to taste
  • ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 c
    diced, precooked ham (optional)

How To Make sharon's pea salad

  • 1
    Drain any water off of peas & pat them with paper towels to dry them off.

    Mix together, all ingredients, in a large bowl. Chill 1 hour, before serving (not included in prep time). Makes 4 servings.
