honey sriracha baked beans

Honey Sriracha is such a great combination for meat that I decided to try it in baked beans. Turns out it makes some tasty beans as well. I cooked mine on the grill...love the smokiness it added. As a time saver you can use your favorite canned beans. I hope you give these baked beans with a twist a try!

Ingredients For honey sriracha baked beans

  • 1 c
    dried great northern or navy beans (as a time saver you can use 3 cans of pork and beans)
  • 1 sm
    onion, diced
  • 1 lg
    poblano pepper, seeded and diced
  • 3 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 3 Tbsp
    bacon grease or oil - the bacon grease adds flavor
  • 1/2 c
    ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp
    sriracha sauce
  • 1 Tbsp
    honey
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • if cooking your own beans you'll need about 1/2 cup water for the sauce

How To Make honey sriracha baked beans

    Cook and drain your beans according to package directions.

    In a medium skillet on medium heat cook onion and bell pepper until tender. Add garlic and cook a minute more.

    Add beans, ketchup, honey, sriracha sauce and water. (If using canned beans, skip water). Stir until combined. Taste for salt and pepper.

    If cooking on the grill cover your pan inside and out with aluminum foil to protect pan. Pour beans into pan and place on prepared grill. If baking, place in 350 degree oven and bake about 30 minutes until sauce is thickened and bubbly.

    Stir beans occasionally and cook until sauce has thickened. I love the smoky flavor the grilling process adds. Enjoy with all of your bbq favorite fixins!
