"Good Green Beans"

This is my "go to" green bean dish. They are very similar to what Furr's Cafeteria had (we don't have one close any more). My #4 granddaughter named them "Good green beans". She still asks for them and she is a Jr in college @ Texas State (Go Bobcats) now. They look so much prettier than the cut green beans, but you can use those too if you want (less expensive).

Method:
Stove Top

Ingredients

3 can(s)
whole green beans
1/2
onion, sliced thin
1 Tbsp
cider vinegar
3-4
strips of bacon
1 Tbsp
sugar
1 tsp
garlic salt
salt and pepper to taste

Step-By-Step

1Cut bacon into about 1" squares (say 4-5 pieces per slice)
Place in medium size sauce pan and cook, stirring so it won't burn.
Add thinly sliced onion, continue cooking bacon and onion for a few minutes.
2Pour vinegar over bacon and onion, let cook for a about 2 minutes.
Drain 2 cans of beans and leave the juice in the 3rd can.
Add to sauce pan.
3Add: garlic salt, sugar, salt and pepper. Turn beans with large spoon, try not to chop them up.
Turn fire down and let simmer about 30 minutes.
