CRUNCHY HOLIDAY STUFFING

Despite the name of this recipe, it's so easy you could make it any time of year, not just for holidays. It's a bit different, in that I've never added carrots before, but why not? The crunchy onions on top give it more texture. I also added sage for flavor.

Ingredients

1/2 c
(1 stick) butter
1-1/2 c
chopped celery
1-1/2 c
chopped carrots
1 pkg
(14 oz.) stuffing
1 can(s)
(14.5 oz.) chicken broth
1 c
water
2 tsp
dried sage
2 c
french fried onions

Directions Step-By-Step

Melt butter in a large pot. Stir in vegetables and saute for 5 minutes.

Add stuffing, broth, and water; stir until moistened. Gently stir in 1 cup onions and the sage. Spoon stuffing into 3-qt. baking dish.

Cover and bake in a preheated 350ยบ oven for 20 minutes. Uncover, sprinkle with remaining onions, and bake 5 minutes more or until onions are golden.
