Ingredients For classic 7 layer salad

  • 1 md
    head lettuce, shredded
  • 1/2 c
    green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 c
    red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 c
    green onion, chopped
  • 1/2 c
    celery, chopped
  • 1 pkg
    (10 ounce) frozen green peas, partially thawed and uncooked
  • 1 c
    mayonnaise
  • 3 Tbsp
    granulated sugar
  • 2 c
    shredded cheddar cheese
  • cooked, crumbled bacon or bacon bits, if desired

How To Make classic 7 layer salad

  • 1
    In a clear glass or trifle bowl, add ingredients in layers as follows: 1. lettuce 2. green and red pepper 3. green onion 4. celery 5. peas 6. Stir together mayonnaise and sugar. Dot over salad and spread carefully over top to cover. 7. Top with grated cheese and bacon bits (optional). Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
