This recipe I was leary about, thick french onion soup..hum...it's incredible! We actually save the left over onions to put on hamburgers, hot dogs, roast and kind of meat. I actually have friends use it just for that reason, and the bread topping is incredible.
Take 1 1/2 stick butter and melt in skillet and add sliced onions. Cook till translucent. Mix soup and milk in small bowl. Take cooked onions and place in the bottom of 9 x 13 cake pan. LEAVE butter in skillet. Pour soup mixture on onions and sprinkle with cheese
take bread and dip both sides in pan with leftover butter, you can add more butter as needed and place on top of onion, soup & cheese mixture and bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes. Serve as a side!
