Ingredients For barb's garlic dill pickle slices

  • 3 Tbsp
    pickling spice
  • 4 c
    cider vinegar
  • 4 c
    water
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    pickling salt
  • 7
    bay leaves
  • 28 clove
    garlic smashed
  • 3 1/2 tsp
    mustard seed
  • 7
    heads fresh dill or 3/12 tsp. dill weed
  • 14 c
    cucumbers sliced

How To Make barb's garlic dill pickle slices

    Tie the pickling spice in a cheesecloth or use a metal tea basket. Combine vinegar, water, sugar, pickling salt and spice bag in a pot and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and simmer 15 minutes.

    Meanwhile get 7 pint jars that have been sanitized and place 1 bay leaf in each one, then 4 smashed garlic cloves, 1/2 tsp. mustard seed and 1/2 tsp. dill weed.

    Pack cucumbers in jars and pour the hot liquid over. Process in boiling water bath for 15 minutes
