I received the basic recipe from a co-worker and then tweaked it by adding my favorite ingredients. The end result quickly became a family favorite.

2 can(s)
(28 oz each) bush's baked beans - drained
1 lb
kielbasa - cut into bite sized pieces
1 small
onion - finely diced
1 small
green bell pepper - finely diced
1 Tbsp
1/2 Tbsp
prepared mustard
1/2 Tbsp
worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp
liquid smoke
1/4 - 1/2 c
brown sugar - packed
1 bottle
bbq sauce

1Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2Add the onions & bell pepper to a small sauté pan with a small amount of vegetable oil. Heat until the onions are almost transparent. Transfer to a large mixing bowl.
3Add the remaining ingredients to the bowl, except the kielbasa, and adjust the amounts to your taste. Add the kielbasa and stir to combine.
4Pour the mixture into a baking dish. Bake for an hour, or until heated through and the sauce is thick.

VARIATION: Substitute 1 pound of ground beef for the kielbasa. Cook the onions & peppers with the ground beef. Drain before adding to the bean mixture.
