I received the basic recipe from a co-worker and then tweaked it by adding my favorite ingredients. The end result quickly became a family favorite.

2 can(s)
(28 oz each) bush's baked beans - drained
1 lb
kielbasa - cut into bite sized pieces
1 small
onion - finely diced
1 small
green bell pepper - finely diced
1 Tbsp

Directions Step-By-Step

1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2
Add the onions & bell pepper to a small sauté pan with a small amount of vegetable oil. Heat until the onions are almost transparent. Transfer to a large mixing bowl.

Add the remaining ingredients to the bowl, except the kielbasa, and adjust the amounts to your taste. Add the kielbasa and stir to combine.
4
Pour the mixture into a baking dish. Bake for an hour, or until heated through and the sauce is thick.

VARIATION: Substitute 1 pound of ground beef for the kielbasa. Cook the onions & peppers with the ground beef. Drain before adding to the bean mixture.
