Rose's Notes:
This is a family favorite even though it takes time, it's worth it. They freeze well also. It's hardy and made with ground beef also. Great on dogs and burgers too.

Comments from the Test Kitchen:
The yummy meat in this recipe practically makes it a meal in itself! Perfect for a potluck or game night.

Directions

1
Cut up bacon and brown, save drippings, add onion, brown, add ground beef brown. Mix all together and make sure the ground beef is seperated and thoroughly through all the ingredients. Add all of the other ingredients and mix. Open all beans and mix the above ingredients gently through the beans thoroughly. Bake at 350 for 2 hours. Let settle at least 1 hour before serving so flavors meld together. This recipe freezes well in any amount.
2
Remove juices from beans.

Thanks girls, it's one of the dishes that people just don't want to take the time to make from scratch anymore but so very flavorful. My Grandmother Rose was born in Mass., so homemade baked beans were always at our barbecues. They do take time to make and 2 hrs. in the oven but ya' can't beat the taste, right. Hey Karla, I have a cousin that lives in Kent, WA., is that near you?? This is one that I get asked to bring to barbeques all the time, the other ones I'll be posting in the next few weeks. Hugs.

Kent Wa. is over by the Seattle area , I live on the opposite side of the state by the Idaho boarder. I also had a Grandma Rose but Rose was her last name. :D

Hey Rose! I looked at yours and I thought you said five different kind of beans and your recipe said four kind of beans. Your looks great too! Thanks for your sharing.

I add black beans sometimes so that's the 5th bean but my husband doesn't like black beans and I do. You don't have to add them either but they are so healthy for us to eat, I put 1 can in and he doesn't notice...teehee. If you try them let me know. Your looks great also.
