I believe that I got this recipe 2002 from a Taste of Home Magazine but it has been so long I'm not sure. But it is a very good recipe so see how you like it.

Ingredients For grandma's apples and rice

  • 1 1/4 c
    uncooked brown rice
  • 4 Tbsp
    butter,divided
  • 2 1/2 c
    chunky applesauce
  • 1 c
    cubed peeled apples
  • 1/4 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 1 3/4 tsp
    ground cinnamon, divided
  • 1 pinch
    salt

How To Make grandma's apples and rice

  • 1
    Cook rice according to package directions. Stir 2 tablespoons butter into hot rice. Add applesauce, apples, brown sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon, and then add salt. Spoon into a greased 2 quart baking dish. Dot with remaining butter, sprinkle with remaining cinnamon. Bake, uncovered at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. Serve warm or cold.
