My kids love this. The more tater tots and cheese I put in it the better.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

Notes from the Test Kitchen:
This was fantastic!! I used ground turkey and both cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese piled on top. Super satisfying, it tasted just like something Grandma used to make. (Kind of like chicken dumplings, but not as heavy.)

This is a very kid-friendly dish and I will bet they will be asking for seconds!!! If there is any left at the end of the meal, though, it heats up well for leftovers the next day.

Ingredients

1 lb
ground beef or turkey, browned, seasoned & drained
2-3 c
of canned (drained) or frozen vegetable of choice: green beans, corn, peas or mixed vegetables (optional)
3 lb
frozen tater tots
1 can(s)
cream of chicken soup
1 can(s)
cream of mushroom soup
1 1/2 c
milk
8-12 oz
cheddar cheese, shredded

I needed something quick and easy to make with as few ingredients as possible. I had never had tater tot casserole before but I knew that it didn't take much to throw together. I found this recipe and it was a success! I seasoned the ground beef with garlic powder, powdered onion and salt and it was good but I think I will season it with a pack of onion soup mix (always good) next time. There are a couple of other tweaks I will make but this recipe is a win in my house. We will definitely be making it again.
