When my daughters were little (3 & 5)their grandfather called them Squeak and Sputters. Angie(5) never stopped talking and Tif followed behind saying "Me too" to everything she said or did. Since Tif had a little squeak in her voice this seemed appropriate. Therefor in their honor, I call this "Squeak and Sputters" but the original name is Bubble and Squeak due to the sound it makes while frying. So I'm told.

Ingredients For bubble and squeak

5potatoes diced

1/2 lbbacon, cut up

1head cabbage coarsely shredded

1/2 cwater

1 tspsalt
How To Make bubble and squeak

1Place potatoes in soup pot and cover with water. Boil till tender. Drain.

2In same pot cook bacon till crisp, drain all but 2T. of drippings. Return potatoes to pot. Add cabbage, water and salt. Cook med-high heat 8-10 min. till cabbage is tender.
