This recipe has been used over and over. It keeps well in the refrigerator for days, excellent served with fish or cookouts.

Ingredients For vinegar slaw

  • 8 c
    shredded cabbage (1 1/2 to 2 lbs)
  • 2 Tbsp
    chopped pimentoes
  • 1/2 c
    chopped green pepper
  • 3/4 c
    chopped onion
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    vinegar (i use white vinegar)
  • 1/2 c
    water
  • 1 Tbsp
    mustard seed

How To Make vinegar slaw

    In a large bowl, combine cabbage, pimentoes, green pepper & onion. Toss lightly; set aside. Combine remaining ingredients in a medium saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered for 20-25 min. until slightly thickened.

    Pour over cabbage mixture. Cover and refrigerate 4 hours or overnight. Will keep in refrigerator several days.
