Ingredients

1.5 lb
french chestnuts
1/3 c
butter
salt to taste
pepper to taste
1 c
dry bread crumbs
1/2 c
milk, scalded
1
boiling water

Step-By-Step

1Pour boiling water over chestnuts and let stand 5 minutes; remove skin with fingers and a knife.

2Cook nuts about 1/2 hour in boiling salted water.

3Drain, mash and add butter and seasonings.

4Pour milk over crumbs and add to nut mixture.

5Mix well, stuff bird.
