These go nicely with stew or anything with gravy.

Ingredients

1/2 c
milk
1/2 tsp
salt
2
eggs, beaten
1 1/2 c
flour
1/4 c
butter, melted

Directions Step-By-Step

1
Beat together milk, salt and eggs.
2
Add enough flour to make a stiff dough.
3
Bring a large pot of salted water to a full boil. Dip a large clean spoon into the water and then drop a large spoonful of dough into the water. Dipping the spoon into the boiling water before each spoonful of dough helps keep the dough from sticking onto the spoon.
4
When all dumplings are in the water, cover loosely and cook 20 minutes stirring occasionally.
5
Drain, place in a serving dish and add melted butter. Toss to coat.

My mom taught us to make a heavy stiff batter dumpling something like this recipe. One of my favorite way to cook them on top of pork & sauerkraut after it's done cooking. They don't break up in whatever you cook them in..

These dumplings sound like they should be illegal! I have to try this.
