I was requested to make the beans for our Mothers Day get together so this is what I threw together...I actually wrote it down for a change, Might I add they were a big hit! Beefy with a lot of bacon. I love the colorful mixture of beans I chose too... They say you eat with your eyes, and these were definitely delicious!

Ingredients For ~ hearty party beans ~

  • 1 1/2 lb
    bacon, cooked crisp and reserve 3 tablespoons bacon grease
  • 1 1/2 - 2 lb
    ground beef
  • 3 - 4 clove
    garlic minced
  • 1 lg
    onion, chopped
  • 2 - 15 oz
    dark kidney beans - drained and rinsed
  • 2 - 15 oz
    baby lima beans - drained and rinsed
  • 2 - 15 oz
    butter beans - drained and rinsed
  • 2 - 28 oz
    original bushes baked beans
  • 1 - 15 oz
    pork and beans in tomato sauce
  • 3 Tbsp
    molasses
  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 1 c
    sweet baby rays - barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 c
    ketchup
  • 1/4 c
    tomato juice
  • 2 Tbsp
    spicy brown mustard
  • 2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    pepper

How To Make ~ hearty party beans ~

    Preheat oven to 325 degree F. In a large skillet, cook bacon until crispy, drain and crumble. Pour the bacon fat from pan - leaving about 3 tablespoons. Over medium heat brown ground beef, breaking apart into smaller pieces as it cooks. once almost cooked, add the onion and garlic. cook until onion begins to become tender and translucent. Drain.

    In a large roaster mix the beans and remaining ingredients well. Stir in the bacon and ground beef mixture. Bake covered for 1 hour and 45 minutes, stirring occasionally or until desired thickness. You can remove the lid during last 15 minutes of baking to brown some if desired.
