This has been handed down from my grandma. She was such an awesome cook. I loved to help her and learned so much from her. So very good flavor, and old fashioned goodness.

5 lb. Chicken

Ingredients

3 Tbsp
chopped onion
1/4 c
butter
4 c
dry bread crumbs ( about 7 slices)
1/4 tsp
salt
1/4 tsp
pepper
1/2 tsp
poultry seasoning
1/2 tsp
ground sage
2-4 Tbsp
water or chicken broth

Directions Step-By-Step

Cook onion in butter.

Combine with bread crumbs and seasonings.

Toss with enough liquid to moisten crumbs.

If you want to stuff the bird, do so at this time. I like to put mine in a jelly roll pan and brown the crumbs under the broiler first.

Makes enough to stuff a 5 lb. chicken. For a 10 lb turkey, you will need to double the recipe.
