Ingredients

2 can(s) pork and beans
1/2 lg yellow onion
1/5 lb bacon
2 Tbsp liquid hickory smoke
6 Tbsp brown sugar, firmly packed

Rosette's Notes:

The use of bacon fat in this recipe is essential - would be flat without it. You can make those canned generic beans become 'special' with these additions. I am always asked to bring these to a barbecue. Enjoy!

 

Directions

Cut bacon into little pieces and saute until lightly browned. Do Not discard grease.

Dice onion and add to pan with bacon and fat. Saute lightly until onions are translucent, but not browned.

Add the beans, the brown sugar and liquid smoke to pot. Stir to combine. Let cook over medium low fire for about 30 minutes. Serve and enjoy.
