Rosette's Story

The use of bacon fat in this recipe is essential - would be flat without it. You can make those canned generic beans become 'special' with these additions. I am always asked to bring these to a barbecue. Enjoy!

Ingredients

2 can(s)
pork and beans
1/2 large
yellow onion
1/5 lb
bacon
2 Tbsp
liquid hickory smoke
6 Tbsp
brown sugar, firmly packed

Directions Step-By-Step

1
Cut bacon into little pieces and saute until lightly browned. Do Not discard grease.
2
Dice onion and add to pan with bacon and fat. Saute lightly until onions are translucent, but not browned.
3
Add the beans, the brown sugar and liquid smoke to pot. Stir to combine. Let cook over medium low fire for about 30 minutes. Serve and enjoy.
