The Very Best Crock Pot Apple Butter

This is my first time making this variation of this recipe. The original recipe called for 4c of white sugar and no nutmeg or all spice... needless to say it was enough sugar to put you in a coma! I'm a eager to try my own spin on the original recipe, and will post results.

fufu apples
1 c
white sugar
1/2 c
dark brown sugar
2 1/2 Tbsp
1/4 & 1/8 tsp
ground cloves
1/4 tsp
1/4& dash tsp
1/8 tsp
allspice, ground


Step 1 Direction Photo

1Peel, core and finely chop apples and place in crock pot.

Step 2 Direction Photo

2In medium bowl white sugar, dark brown sugar, cinnamon, ground cloves, salt, nutmeg and allspice. Pour mixture over apples and mix well.

3Cook on high one hour. Mash with a potato masher 3-5 minutes.

4Cook on low 6-9 hours, stirring and mashing occasionally until mixture is thickened and dark brownish.

Step 5 Direction Photo

5Uncover and continue to cook 45 to 60 minutes on low. Mash with potato masher to increase smoothness. Put in immersion blender if necessary.

6Spoon mixture into sterile containers, cover and refrigerate or freeze.
