spice shelf seasoned flour
If you're like me, you probably have a shelf or drawer full of herbs and spices. This is one way that I make good use of some of them. It's a lightly seasoned flour, despite the numerous ingredients, perfect for coating fried chicken, pork chops and country fried steak, and for making the gravy when you're finished frying. It's also good to use, in place of plain flour, for making batters for fried mushrooms etc...

3 call purpose flour

1 1/2 tspsalt

1 1/4 tspground black pepper

1/2 tspseasoned salt (lawry's)

1/2 tspground (rubbed) sage

1/4 tspgarlic salt

1/4 tspitalian herb seasoning

1/4 tspgarlic and herb seasoning
-
1/8 tspgarlic powder
-
1/8 tsppoultry seasoning

1/8 tspsmoked paprika
-
1/8 tspcajun seasoning
-
1 pinchturmeric, ground (about 1/16 teaspoon)

1 pinchcayenne pepper (about 1/16 teaspoon)
How To Make spice shelf seasoned flour

1Add all ingredients to a plastic food storage bag or container with tight-fitting lid.

2Close bag tightly or place lid on container, leaving some airspace; shake well to thoroughly blend seasonings with flour.

3Label and store as for flour. Use for coating for fried foods and for gravy.

4***NOTE: This recipe makes a large amount. Use a portion at a time and NEVER return any of the flour to the container if it has come in contact with raw meat juices or egg.
