Easy Exceptional Spaghetti Sauce

This is our well loved, everyday, family spaghetti sauce recipe. Much better than straight bottled sauce, and much faster than making gourmet sauce from scratch. Perfect for students or less experienced cooks too! Works equally well with Turkey instead of beef. Enjoy!

Ingredients

1 medium
onion, diced
1/2
green pepper, diced
6
white mushrooms, sliced
2 clove
fresh garlic, minced
2 Tbsp
olive oil
1 lb
ground beef or turkey

FOR THE SAUCE

1 -24oz bottle
your favorite spaghetti sauce
1 Tbsp
olive oil
1 tsp
oregano
1 tsp
basil
1 tsp
salt or to taste
1/4 tsp
ground black pepper
1/4 tsp
dried chile flakes

sun dried tomatoes, diced
1/2 tsp
onion powder
1/2 tsp
garlic powder
1 tsp
sugar
1
bay leaf

Step-By-Step

1Heat 2 Tbsp Olive Oil in a large saucepan/skillet

2Add garlic and cook until fragrant - about 30 seconds

3Add Green Peppers and Onions and saute for about 5 mins

4Add mushrooms and saute until onions are fully translucent and begin to brown

5Remove vegetables and set aside

6Brown ground meat in same skillet and drain off fat

7Reduce heat to simmer

8add back vegetables and spaghetti sauce

9Add all remaining ingredients, stir well.

10Cover and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally

11Serve with your favorite pasta
