Polish - Honey Onion Sauce for Polish sausage

in Wisc....1955


1/4 c
vegetable oil
4 c
thinly sliced onions
1 Tbsp
minced garlic
1 c
canned chicken broth
6 Tbsp
2 Tbsp
spicy whole grained mustard
2 Tbsp
apple cider vinegar

Directions Step-By-Step

Heat oil, add onions cook till carmelized- 15 minutes ?
Add garlic cook 1 minute. Add chicken broth and bring to a boil. Cook stirring till reduced to 1/2.
Add mustard, vinegar and honey.
Lower heat to medium low.
Simmer till thick - 6 minutes ?
Remove from heat, cool 10 minutes before serving with Polish sausage.
Yield 1 cup.

I agree Deb; the sweetness of this alongside the tartness of sauerkraut must be mighty tasty!

A must try! Thanks Nancy for sharing! :) This seems like it would also be good with sauerkraut, as with any good Polish Sausage, there will be sauerkraut as well!
