I got this recipe from my Betty Crocker cookbook. I use it on bread pudding and homemade cinnamon rolls but you can use it on anything that requires this kind of white icing such as dessert pizzas.

Ingredients

4 Tbsp
margarine, softened
1 c
powdered sugar
1/2 tsp
vanilla extract

Directions Step-By-Step

1
In a small bowl beat margarine and sugar for 3-5 minutes; beat in vanilla.

I made cinnamon rolls from scratch one time and had the same result you did...hard as a rock! Since then, I've used the refrigerator dough..."Semi-Homemade"! ;-)
