Strawberry Jam

Dannell M

I made this delicious jam with fresh berries from the corner stand for my granddaughter. When I delivered her "strawberry sauce" to her my brother offered her $5 for it. She said "No way". He asked her why and she said, "because I like my sauce!" LOL

pinch tips: How to Core and Slice a Pineapple

7 c
5 c
strawberries, mashed
4 Tbsp
lemon juice
1 3/4 oz
sure jell fruit pectin

Directions Step-By-Step

Mash berries a bit at a time leaving it as chunky as you like. In a medium pot add berries, lemon juice & pectin. Cook on high heat stirring frequently. When it comes to a rolling boil add in all of the sugar at once (have it pre measured in a bowl before you need it.)
Mix in the sugar and keep stirring and bring it back to another rolling boil that you can't stir down. Once it's at a full boil again boil for 1 min and then remove from heat. Once it settles down skim off the foam.
Fill prepared jars, leaving ΒΌ" head space. Be sure to wipe the top of jars to insure there isn't any sugar or the jars won't seal. Boil in water bath for 10 minutes. Then remove lid & turn off heat and allow jars to sit in the hot water for an additional 5 minutes before removing.

Remove jars from the water bath onto a cooling rack or towel.
I got this recipe from a you tube video. It was my first attempt at canning & I was looking for a local class (there wasn't one) So I tuned into you tube! It was awesome. It was like going to a class and not having to drive anywhere! I love technology! <3
