A fellow JAP member asked if I had a recipe for milk gravy, so here it is friend. A delicious base gravy for to use on chicken fried steak or add sausage or chipped beef for over biscuits. Yum!

Use bacon drippings or butter, it's all up to you.

Stove Top

Ingredients

2 Tbsp
bacon drippings or butter
2 Tbsp
flour
1 1/4 c
milk - more to thin if needed
Fresh
cracked black pepper - i use 6 - 7 turns of the pepper mill
Kosher
salt to taste ( i use about 1/2 tsp )

Directions Step-By-Step

1
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, heat bacon fat or melt butter to bubbling. Once bubbling, whisk in flour and continue cooking and whisking for 1 - 2 minutes, watch not to burn.
Whisk in the milk and continue stirring as mixture comes to a boil and thickens. Season to taste with pepper and salt.

If preparing ahead, may need to thin out with a bit more milk. It's a great gravy for adding sausage or chipped beef to serve over biscuits or toast.
