Ingredients

1 1/4 c sugar
1/3 c flour
1/3 c cocoa, unsweetened
2 c water
3 Tbsp butter
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Debbie's Notes:

Make those Hardees biscuits from a previously posted recipe and ladle this gravy over the top for a different twist on Biscuits and Gravy. Yummy!

 

Directions

Mix all ingredients, except vanilla, in a saucepan and cook until gravy thickens, stirring with a whisk.

Once gravy has thickened and just before serving, stir in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.

Serve over hot biscuits.

My husband is from the south and his mom used to make a choc gravy he has talked about for the last 20 yrs. I will defin. be trying this recipe for him thanks for sharing!

I will be trying this on Wed. and just haven't found the perfect biscuit recipe like his mom may also try your biscuits. Will let you know what he thinks!

Are there other foods to use the chocolate gravy on? Or typically is it just buscuits? The recipe sounds amazing!

Vicki, great question. Honestly, we've never used it on anything but biscuits, but as I think about it, you could easily use a slightly cooled version as a dip for fruit. Heck, anything that tastes better with chocolate ladled on top.

Vicki...it is good over pancakes, waffles, with ice cream on chocolate cake...etc.
