Can substitute Pumpkin for the apples too! I'd say...1 - 15 oz can pureed pumpkin (not pie filling).

Ingredients For crock pot apple butter

  • 3 lg
    granny smith apples, peeled, cored, finely chopped
  • 3 lg
    gala apples, peeled, cored, finely chopped
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    dark brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 Tbsp
    cinnamon, ground
  • 1/8 tsp
    allspice, ground
  • 1/8 tsp
    nutmeg, ground

How To Make crock pot apple butter

  • 1
    Place the apples in a crock pot. Top with sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, allspice & nutmeg & mix well.

    Cover & cook on LOW 10 hours, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is thickened & dark brown.

    Uncover & puree with an immersion blender. Cook on HIGH uncovered 1 - 2 hours.
  • 4
    Spoon into sterile jars, or containers & refrigerate.
