Judy's Notes:

Our family are Cincinnati Bengals fans. This is a good take along for tailgate parties.

Comments from the Test Kitchen: Kitchen Crew

This is a good stand-by to have at parties or to take to any function. You can always count on having an empty dish at the end of the event! I used medium salsa to make this, but you can spice it up by using a hotter version.

Directions

1
In a medium bowl, blend the taco seasoning mix and refried beans. Spread the mixture onto a large serving platter.
2
Mix the sour cream and cream cheese in a medium bowl. Spread over the refried beans.
3
Top the layers with salsa.
4
Place a layer of tomato, green bell pepper, green onions, black olives and lettuce over the salsa.
5
Garnish with shredded cheese.

Next time you should try adding Skyline chili. It's great.

If you add browned ground beef, and 1 can black beans it becomes a meal. Add 2 avocados, chopped into bite size chunks, if desired.

I have been looking for this recipe for a long time.I used to make it but used ground beef instead of beans but I guess the beans are better for you.I always layered mine in a large pizza pan. This was a big hit around here 20 yrs ago.I forgot all about it then it came to me and it is very good.

The taco dip recipe i have calls for "Bean Dip" for the 1st layer, then add the pkt of taco seasoning packet to the sour cream for the 2nd layer. Gualcamole dip for the 3rd layer--then chopped bl.olives 4th layer-chopped tomatoes-5th layer-green onions 6th layer--shredded cheese 7th layer.

My recipe uses bean dip - and you mix the taco seasoning with the sour cream - mashed avocadoes with fresh lime juice and some black pepper - cubed tomatoes - sliced black olives - grated cheddar. I would get fired if I didn't make this for my family - especially my grand daughters - they love it! They usually scoop it up with Doritoes!
