Y'all Know that I'm a cooking from scratch kinda gal! Well here's a new recipe Finally.How to make sour cream and boy is it ever so cheap to make and no more buying sour cream any more for this old gal'now that I know how easy it is to make.If you want it for quite a few people--just double the recipe.Hope Y'all love this discovery as much as I do.I also studied up on this and found out that buttermilk is a great culture to use -so you do not have to spend money buying a culture.I also do my yogurt culture in an ice tray too.I keep this for 6 months before making a new culture.

Ingredients For homemade sourcream

    half and half
  • 2 lg
    ice cubes of buttermilk

How To Make homemade sourcream

    Use a medium size bowl

    Pour into bowl-1 cup of half and half. $1.18 at walmart for a pint size.

    Before hand you will need to purchase a quart of buttermilk and fill up one ice tray with buttermilk to freeze into cubes.Then pop out and put into a good freezer baggie.

    Now to your one cup of half and half add 2 ice cubes just as they are.Let this bowl sit out on the counter top for two days,can swish around bowl.The buttermilk acid keeps spoilage away so don,t worry!

    You do have to keep a clean dish towel covering this.After two days-guess what you have made?Beautiful sour cream.And you do not have to order cultures to make it.I have studied this out for you and done the work and will post a picture.That has been stirred up.Wish I would not have stirred up until after picture but alas I did.
