Granny's Eight Layer, Eight Hour Salad

My husband's grandmother made this salad for all family gatherings.
** The "cook time" listed is really the chill time but there is no choice for that.

Ingredients

1/2
head iceberg lettuce, cut into bite-sized pieces)
1/2 c
green bell pepper, chopped
1/2 c
celery, chopped
1/2 c
green onion, chopped
1 pkg
frozen peas, thawed
1 c
mayonnaise
1/2 c
cheddar cheese, shredded
8 slice
bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled

In a large bowl (I use a glass one as it is prettier), layer the ingredients in the order listed.

Cover and chill for 8 hours.
