Make Ahead Slaw

Many years ago, someone in the family collected recipes from descendants of my great grandparents, William M. and Florence E. (Snodgrass) Whaley and had them compiled into a cookbook. I am posting those recipes here so that they will not be lost. This recipe was submitted by my mother's cousin Effie Moody.

No-Cook or Other

Ingredients

1 large
cabbage head
2
white onions
2 c
sugar
2/3 c
oil
1 c
vinegar
1 Tbsp
mustard seed
1 Tbsp
celery seed
1 Tbsp
salt

Directions Step-By-Step

Shred cabbage and chop onions.

Sprinkle with sugar; do not stir.

Mix remainder of ingredients. Pour over cabbage mixture.

Refrigerate for 3 to 4 hours. Keeps for 3 to 4 weeks.
