Wow, I made this on a whim tonight! My son and husband ate them like there was no tomorrow.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

Canned biscuits are the base for these super easy and tasty taco cups. The flaky biscuit cup has a ground turkey filling and is full of taco flavor. A bit of cheese holds the filling together. We added sour cream, salsa, and a touch of guacamole on top. But, you could really serve them with any taco toppings you like. A great twist for taco night or, even better, at a party for a grab-and-go snack.

Ingredients For taco cups

  • 1 lb
    ground turkey
  • 1 sm
    onion, diced
  • 2 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 pkg
    taco seasoning mix
  • 1/2 c
    water, cold
  • 1 Tbsp
    cumin
  • 2 tsp
    garlic granules (if you love garlic that is)
  • 1/2 tsp
    cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 c
    oil (I used bacon fat from breakfast)
  • 2 c
    cheese of your liking, grated
  • 1/2 can
    fire roasted tomatoes (whole can if you love tomatoes)
  • 2 can
    Pillsbury flaky butter biscuits
  • sour cream or salsa

How To Make taco cups

  • Browning onion and garlic.

    Dice onion and mince garlic. Warm oil in a large skillet. Add onion and garlic; cook until soft.
  • Browning ground turkey.

    Add ground turkey; brown slightly.
  • Seasoning added to the ground turkey.

    While browning, add taco seasoning, cumin, and cayenne.
  • Pouring water into the skillet.

    Add water. Stir until spices blend completely and turkey is browned.
  • Chopped tomatoes added to the skillet.

    Add tomatoes. Warm.
  • Stirring together turkey mixture and cheese.

    Let the meat cool a bit. In a bowl, place cheese and then add meat. Stir well.
  • Flattened biscuits pressed into cupcake tin.

    Take biscuits out and flatten them as much as possible. Grease two 12-cup cupcake pans. Push biscuits into the pan so that they go up the sides like a cup.
  • Meat mixture spooned into the cupcake tins.

    Spoon your meat into each cup press down and fill to the top.
  • Taco Cups baking in the oven.

    Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 35 minutes, until biscuits are brown.
  • A platter of Taco Cups ready to be topped.

    Top with sour cream or salsa or both. Enjoy!!
